Orthodontic Emergencies
Even on the most exciting adventures, unexpected bumps can happen. If you encounter any issues with your braces or aligners, just give our office a shout as soon as possible! We’re usually here for you Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM. Please give us a call first – we’ll guide you on whether you need to pop in right away or if your smile can wait a bit.
Loose Bands or Brackets?
If a band or bracket comes loose, give us a call right away for personalized recommendations. Some situations might need immediate attention to keep your smile journey on track, while others can wait. In a pinch, if a wire is really causing trouble and you can’t reach us immediately, you can carefully snip the end with nail clippers (sterilized with alcohol, please!). Just be sure to call the office the very next business day, and we’ll give you the best advice on when to come in.
Irritations from Wires and Braces?
Sometimes, new wires or braces can cause a little irritation – think of it as your smile getting used to its new adventure gear! If a wire is bothering you, try gently repositioning it with a Q-tip or the eraser end of a pencil. You can also cover any irritating areas with a small piece of the orthodontic wax we provide, or even a tiny piece of cotton. You might feel a bit of discomfort in the initial stages, but rest assured, it’s a temporary passenger on your journey to a brilliant smile and will pass as you get used to it!
